The missionaries of St. Francis de Sales, also known as Fransalians, is an international religious congregation, founded in Annecy, France in 1838 by Servant of God Fr. Peter Marie Mermier, to bring about the renewal of Christian life, under the patronage of St. Francis de sale, a doctor of the Church.
Fransalians are currently present in 27 countries in the world, dedicating themselves to preaching Parish Missions, Foreign Missions, Education, Evangelization and other Innovative Pastoral Ministries. The pastoral Ministry and lifestyle of the Fransalians bear witness to the seven salient features of the Salesian Spirituality such as: Charity, Humility, Simplicity, Optimism, Gentleness, Humanness and Resignation to the will of God in the service of the local Church. Fransalians are headquartered in Rome, Italy and the congregation has 11 provinces and a vice- province.
Fransalians have been present in the United Kingdom for almost 160 years. There are about 19 priests currently doing pastoral ministry in 5 dioceses spread out in the UK. The Fransalians are committed to renewing the lives of the people through their preaching, teaching and focusing on re-evangelizing the evangelized.
